An original cocktail from Liz. Inspired by a play on the Singapore Sling known as the Suffering Bastard. As the story goes – this cocktail was invented during WW2 as a way to ease the hangovers of officers in Cairo. In the 1960s this cocktail took on an entirely new identity as a Tiki drink – one that was rumored to be a favorite “hair of the dog” cocktail for the king himself – Elvis. Named The Politician as a small joke for both the inspiration & the incredibly intense past year – the mellow botanical flavors of the gin & robust cherrywood smoked flavors of the whiskey represent the one things all people can agree upon for 2021 – watching politics inspires a ravenous thirst for a good cocktail.
