A gathering of whiskey lovers will converge on the city to celebrate the statewide 26-stop distillery tour organized by the Tennessee Distillers Guild. In addition, all 26 distilleries will attend the event.
Those include Old Dominick Distillery of West Tennessee; Jug Creek, Jack Daniels, Short Mountain and Corsair Distilleries from Middle Tennessee; and PostModern Spirits, Thunder Road, Old Smoky and Knox Whiskey Works of East Tennessee.
Jeff Arnett, master distiller for Jack Daniels, will be in attendance and there will be several area restaurants, breweries, Cades Cove Cellars winery and a boutique cigar lounge on site.
This is the second year for the event. New this year will be appearances by the stars of the Discovery Channel’s “Moonshiners” with Mark Ramsey, Digger Manes, Mark Rogers and Patti Bryan, who will be available for photos.
It’s also the first year for PostModern Spirits, owned by Eric McNew and Stanton Webster, to attend the event.
“Grains & Grits is a wonderful celebration of the Tennessee distilling industry in the beautiful mountain setting of Townsend. And even more exciting for us is that this is PostModern Spirits’ first year at the event! Guests will be able to sample craft cocktails made from our products along with spirit tastings of our original five spirits launched in August (Giniferous Gin, Empirical Dry Gin, Kore Vodka, Chamomile Liqueur, and Elderberry Gin Liqueur) plus our newest offerings which launch in November: a luscious Cacao Liqueur, Bitter Orange Amaro Arancia, and our fall gin offering UpRoot Barrel Aged Gin,” McNew said.
The event will be held from 6-9 p.m. Nov. 4 with parking at the Townsend Visitors Center opening at 5 p.m. Cost is $65 for advance tickets available at http://www.grainsandgritsfest.com/ or $75 on the day of the event, when tickets will be limited.
