The Handsome Jack! cocktail is exactly what you would expect if pre-Prohibition era cocktails were served in Borderlands. A loose riff on the Lion’s Tale, a whiskey based pre-prohibition cocktail that is not quite tiki, not quite sour, and that relies heavily on bitters and pimento dram. Handsome Jack! bumps up the bitters with Strongwater Golden bitters and trades in the allspice herbal qualities of the dram for the subtle spice blend of Chai, and a healthy dose of lime juice for the sour component.

Glass:

Coupe

Ingredients:

2 ounce PostModern Spirits American Single Malt Whiskey
0.75 ounce Chai Syrup
0.5 ounce Lime Juice
0.5 ounce Simple Syrup
4 dash Strongwater Golden Bitters

Garnish:

Orange Twist

Method:

Shake all ingredients with ice. Double strain into a chilled cocktail coupe and garnish with the orange twist.

Tasting Notes:

Built on the dry, strong backbone of malt whiskey, the sour hit of lime juice is rounded out nicely with the sweet overtones of the chai.
