An American original cocktail, The Manhattan originated in the mid-late 19th Century and was a mix of American Whiskey, Sweet Vermouth and cocktail bitters. As with many early cocktails, the true origin story is lost in the annals of time and history, however, one thing is certain, by the 1890’s recipes for the Manhattan Cocktail were popping up in America, and folks were absolutely loving this intriguing blend of whiskey, bitters and vermouth. The PostModern Spirits Cherry Manhattan subs in Amaro Artemisia for the cocktail bitters and the syrup from in-house made whiskey cherries in place of the sweet vermouth.
