Boulevardier

Hi Rye Whiskey

The Boulevardier is a whiskey variation of the Negroni cocktail. The original Negroni is typically equal parts gin, Campari & sweet vermouth. For this Boulevardier, PostModern Spirits Hi, Rye Whiskey gets the spotlight and replaces the gin while keeping the Campari & sweet vermouth. Harry MacElhone included a recipe for the Boulevardier Cocktail in his 1927 book Barflies and Cocktails. In his book, Harry credits the creation of the drink recipe to the Boulevardier magazine publisher Erskine Gwynne. While the original gin-based Negroni cocktail is bitter forward, crisp & refreshing, the whiskey-based Boulevardier is very rich and very booze forward. The PostModern Spirits Hi, Rye Whiskey makes for a more refined drinking experience with its higher ratio of malted barley in the whiskey’s grist recipe.
